Maria Montiel Studio.
Maria Montiel is a talented Independent artist and surface designer from Venezuela based in Barcelona Spain.
Maria Montiel Studio has created special capsule collection with the purpose, of mixing the bold and colorful art of artist Maria Montiel with Yessica Duque Food Photographer’s adventurous style, sumptuous palette, and rich photography storytelling .
A a limited edition series that steps out of your ordinary background options.

Hi I’m Maria Montiel
With my work I want to share the way I see the world, a mix of the coconut flavor and the smell of the Caribbean Sea with landscapes of olive trees and Mediterranean breeze, impregnated with the people who have touched my soul and nature that saw me grow.
I am Maria Virginia (Mari), a Venezuelan (Maracucha) based in Barcelona, Spain. In the last years of my university career in graphic design, I fell in love with illustration, and from that moment I began to create my imaginary worlds. Years later I specialized in Surface design in Madrid at the Instituto Europeo di Design IED where I was seeking to mix my knowledge as a graphic designer with my love for illustration.
For many years I developed my own personal project Cayena Blanca, where I was able to experiment with my own line of ceramic and textiles for the home, stationery, and custom pieces with my art. I also started offering my first watercolor workshops.
I have been collaborating with incredible brands such as Paperchase, Godiva, RipSkirt Hawaii, Wallpops, and Museo Würth La Rioja among others creating specialty pattern designs that tell a story and deliver high-quality print and final files.

YD Backdrops
This collection was created with the purpose, of mixing the bold and colorful art of artist Maria Montiel with YD Backdrops and creating a capsule collection that steps out of your ordinary background options.
Six designs come together as a whole story with different options to create beautiful stories to add to your shoots.
Neon. This design acts as a connecting bridge between all the prints in the collection. Flowers that are and that disappear between washes full of textures and neon.
Ink Garden. Dripping shapes create a beautiful and bold design full of depth and movement.
Abstract Florals. A color watercolor from texture inspired by vintage Liberty prints with a modern twist and a bigger scale.
Cherry Dreams. This is one of the two abstract designs of the collection, the deep shades of burdeos with the hints of cherry red and dark pink create an interesting and deep textured background.
Rainbow Canvas. This design features a realistic canvas texture with color washes and gold drips. It is a perfect piece to complement a very minimal setup or add more boldness to any composition.
Ferns. Inspired by childhood stories, this design tells the story of a garden full of ferns and exotic flowers.
